Quick answer
Calculate from your current recipe values
Enter output per cycle, cycle seconds and your target per minute. The tool calculates line rate and rounds required machines up, without asserting hidden or outdated recipe constants.
- Copy values from the current UI
- Use positive decimal inputs
- Check supply and output blockage after scaling

Size a production line
Estimate machines and input rate from values you can verify in your own game.
- 1Enter output per cycle
Expected: The value matches the current recipe panel.
- 2Enter cycle time in seconds
Expected: The value is greater than zero.
- 3Enter target output per minute
Expected: The target describes your planned line.
- 4Review the rounded machine count
Expected: The result rounds up because a fraction of a machine cannot meet the target.
If it does not work
Check: Confirm every field is a positive number.
Next: Correct the highlighted field and calculate again.
Check: Check input delivery, downtime and blocked outputs.
Next: Use the calculated rate as an ideal baseline, then measure the live line.

Formula and meaning
The calculator uses transparent arithmetic. It does not contain a hidden recipe database.
| Value | Formula | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Rate per minute | output per cycle × 60 ÷ cycle seconds | Ideal rate for one continuously running machine |
| Machines required | round up(target ÷ one-machine rate) | Whole machines needed for the selected target |
| Input per minute | input per cycle × cycles per minute × machines | Supply needed under the same assumptions |

Checklist
Assumptions to verify
A calculated line can still run slower when materials, routing or storage interrupt production.
- Current recipe values, not an old guide
- Continuous operation during the measured interval
- Enough input supply for every machine
- No blocked output or transport delay

Guide notes
Confirmed and not confirmed
Official 1.0 notes show that some recipe and heat rules changed, which is why the tool asks for live values.
The formula and current 1.0 change boundary.
Preset recipe quantities, universal throughput, profit, fuel or best-layout values.

FAQ
FAQ
Why does the calculator round machines up?
A target that exceeds the capacity of whole machines needs the next whole machine.
Does it include every recipe?
No. You enter the values currently shown in your game.
Why can the live result be lower?
Starved inputs, downtime, routing and blocked output can reduce the ideal rate.
Can I use decimal cycle values?
Yes, positive decimal values are accepted.
